Terms of service

Effective Date: July 29, 2026 · Last Updated: July 29, 2026

By visiting armchairepics.com, placing an order, or creating an account, you agree to these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

1. Our Content — What You're Subscribing To

Please read this section before purchasing.

Armchair Epics creates and sells original works of literary fiction. Every letter, note, and keepsake you receive is an original creative work written by contemporary writers employed by or contracted with Armchair Epics, LLC. These works are written in an imagined voice inspired by historical public figures — including but not limited to Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, and Oscar Wilde.

By placing an order and using our services, you understand and agree that:

  • No content distributed by Armchair Epics was written by, reviewed by, or authorized by any historical figure, their estate, or any successor in interest.
  • All content is original contemporary creative fiction and is intended to be understood as such.
  • Armchair Epics makes no claim that our letters reflect the actual views, opinions, beliefs, or words of any historical person.
  • The historical figures we draw from are used as creative inspiration only. Any resemblance between our content and actual historical writings is incidental and unintentional.
  • Our content is not presented as — and cannot reasonably be interpreted as — factual, documentary, or genuinely historical.

Our service is a subscription to original creative fiction. Completing a purchase constitutes your agreement to this.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States to subscribe. By using our services, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Subscriptions, Billing & Cancellation

Prepaid plans. Prepaid subscriptions are charged in full at purchase and do not auto-renew.

Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable license to enjoy the content we send you for your own private use. 8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Armchair Epics, LLC and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of our services. In all cases, our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the total subscription fees you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Armchair Epics, LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, or costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of our services, or any claim you bring that a court determines was made in bad faith.

10. Disputes & Arbitration

Informal resolution. Before filing any claim, please contact us at admin@armchairepics.com and give us 30 days to resolve the issue informally.

Binding arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it will be settled through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Houston, Texas, or via videoconference. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding.

No class actions. You and Armchair Epics each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in any class action or representative proceeding. All claims must be brought individually.

Small claims exception. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court in Harris County, Texas, if the claim qualifies.

Frivolous claims. If a court or arbitrator finds that a claim you brought was frivolous, brought in bad faith, or intended to harass, you agree to reimburse our reasonable attorneys' fees and costs to the extent permitted by law.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. For any matter not subject to arbitration, you consent to the jurisdiction of courts in Travis County, Texas.

Time limit. Any claim must be filed within one (1) year of when it arose. Claims filed later are permanently barred.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted. We will notify active subscribers of material changes by email. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason. Sections 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
